General Discussion

Is anyone else booked on the sane tour?

Any advice on clothing for a solo male traveller? What’s the best eSIM?

It is a little cool in the tea country. Mainly warm to hot. Go light with clothes. Zip off shorts to polar fleece top. If still concerned, take some light thermals.

Forget esims, buy a sim at the airport. Really cheap. This is a really good trip.

Read our trip notes. It was about this time of the year and very hot. Sure you won't need thermals. We had leader - Mahendra, a bus boy and a driver. Parts of the trip were on trains. Highlight was train trip through mountains and tea plantations. Other highlights were Sigiriya rock fortress, 2nd safari (1st was pretty ordinary) and dinner on the beach(on the sand) local fish. Restaurant hotel end of beach.

Do you remember the name of your Guide? Was it only one person or was there a Guide and a driver?

Looked at service given. Don't count first and last days. Also discard any days where your leader is not seen. We use Intrepids guide to decide. Usually middle of range suggested in US $. Bus assistant about $1 a day.

How much is a recommended tip for the crew? Do you recall?

a guide, a driver and an assistant to the driver. Same bus and driver for whole trip

We went in March, it was hot already, except in the high interior. Light clothing… but also have some over-the-knee shorts/pants for temple visits and an old pair of socks to wear at outdoor temples - the ground is very hot on bare feet.

Buy a sim at the airport.

Good idea. I’m flying Cathay Pacific to avoid the Middle East and the USA.
